Metal Briquette Press Machine: Buyer Guide for Chips

A metal briquette press machine is selected from the actual chips, turnings or fines it will process. A briquetting press can be a useful route for suitable material, but the feed form, moisture, contamination and downstream handling requirement must be understood before comparing models.

Describe the chip stream

Identify the metal grade and whether grades are mixed. Record short chips, long stringy turnings, fines and any tendency to bridge or wrap. Describe oil or coolant content and note hard contaminants such as tool fragments. A representative sample is more useful than a broad label such as “metal chips.”

Set the output requirement

Confirm the preferred briquette size, handling method and receiving operation. The buyer may require a particular format, cleanliness or density target. Ask which results are design targets and which have been verified with comparable material. Do not assume that a nominal press size guarantees the same briquette result for every alloy or chip form.

Plan preparation and fluid handling

Decide whether screening, separation, draining or other preparation is needed before pressing. Explain how expressed fluid, fines and rejected material will be collected. The press should be assessed as part of the complete process rather than as an isolated machine.

Include these points in an RFQ

  • Metal grades, chip photos and approximate size distribution
  • Moisture, oil or coolant condition
  • Contamination and separation requirements
  • Input per shift and operating schedule
  • Preferred briquette format, storage and shipment method

Review the metal briquetting press range and the guide to preparing metal chips. Send a representative material brief to discuss testing and a suitable configuration.
