There is no useful single price for every scrap metal baler. A quotation depends on the machine configuration, the material to be processed and the delivery scope. A low initial number may exclude feeding equipment, electrical changes, spare parts, installation support or the configuration needed to reach the buyer's output target.
The following factors explain why two balers that look similar can have different quotations.
1. Material type and feed condition
Loose sheet, profile, wire, cans and mixed production scrap do not behave in the same way inside a chamber. Material size, density, rebound and contamination affect the required chamber, compression sequence and wear protection.
Provide photos, dimensions and a representative material description before comparing prices.
2. Required throughput
Higher production targets can change chamber size, hydraulic-system capacity, cycle configuration, feeding method and cooling requirements. A throughput request should include the material and operating assumptions; otherwise, suppliers may price different solutions under the same “tonnes per hour” label.
3. Press force and compression stages
Nominal force is one part of the design. The number and sequence of compression actions, chamber geometry and material response also influence the finished bale. Compare the complete compression system rather than one tonnage figure.
4. Chamber and bale dimensions
A larger feed chamber can reduce material preparation but can also change the machine structure, hydraulic components and footprint. Bale dimensions affect downstream handling, storage, transport and furnace charging. Confirm both input and output requirements.
5. Feeding and discharge equipment
The quoted scope may include only the baler or a wider line with a hopper, conveyor, grab interface, material box or bale-handling equipment. Ask for a clear inclusion list and layout.
6. Automation and control system
Manual, semi-automatic and automatic cycles require different control components and integration work. PLC brand, operator interface, remote control, sensors, production counters and upstream/downstream signals can all change the scope.
7. Electrical and destination requirements
Destination voltage, frequency, component brands, cabinet protection, ambient conditions and local requirements should be confirmed before the final price. Do not assume that an electrical configuration for one country can be shipped unchanged to another.
8. Wear protection and component specification
Wear plates, blade or liner materials, hydraulic components, seals, hoses and filtration choices influence initial cost and maintenance planning. Ask the supplier to identify standard components, optional upgrades and recommended spares.
9. Installation and commissioning scope
Quotations may differ in whether they include:
- foundation drawings;
- installation guidance;
- on-site commissioning;
- operator training;
- travel and accommodation;
- test material and lifting equipment;
- remote support;
- final acceptance procedure.
Compare the responsibility split, not only the machine price.
10. Packing, freight and trade terms
Machine dimensions and weight affect loading and shipping. The quotation should state the trade term, departure point, packing method and excluded destination costs. Taxes, customs clearance, inland delivery and local lifting may be outside the supplier's scope.
