Planning a Scrap Metal Baler Installation: Space, Power and Flow

Machine dimensions are only one part of a scrap metal baler installation. The working site also needs space to deliver material, load the chamber, remove bales, service the hydraulics and keep people clear of moving equipment.

Map the material path

Mark where scrap is received, sorted and staged. Draw the route of the loader from stockpile to baler and the path of finished bales to storage or shipment. Watch for crossing traffic and bottlenecks. A layout may need more clearance at the loading and discharge ends than the machine drawing suggests.

Confirm electrical information early

Record voltage, frequency, available capacity and the distance to the connection point. Export projects should state the local standard rather than assuming the supplier’s default. Ask for the selected model’s electrical schedule before finalizing supply or cable work.

Leave room for service

Hydraulic components, controls, guards and wear parts need inspection and maintenance access. Review the supplier’s service-clearance drawing and manual. Do not place walls or stored material where a service technician needs to work.

Check foundation and delivery

Any foundation or anchoring requirement must come from the chosen machine documentation and site engineer. Also check truck access, unloading equipment, door height and the route into the final position. These details are easier to solve before the machine is shipped.

Prepare a simple site package

  • Scaled layout with entry and exit routes
  • Photos of the intended location
  • Available power information
  • Loader size and operating direction
  • Expected bale storage and truck collection method

Use the scrap baler catalogue to identify candidate machines, then send your site plan for a model-specific layout discussion.
