Importing a Scrap Baler to Southeast Asia: Buyer Checklist

Short answer: prepare a scrap baler import project for Southeast Asia by defining the feed material, bale target, electrical supply, port route, unloading plan and support scope before comparing quotations. A useful request gives every supplier the same technical and delivery assumptions.

Start with the scrap and bale requirement

Describe the material that will be processed most often, not only the largest occasional piece. Separate loose sheet, profiles, cans, turnings, stainless scrap and mixed feed. Record typical dimensions, maximum dimensions, contamination, moisture and any material that requires sorting or pre-cutting.

Then define the outgoing bale. State the preferred dimensions, handling method, downstream buyer requirements and expected operating hours. A supplier can use this brief to assess chamber size, loading arrangement, tying workflow and test conditions without relying on a generic product name.

Confirm the installation site

For a project in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore or another Southeast Asian market, identify the city, the actual installation address and the preferred port. Show the available floor area, loader route, crane access, maintenance space and the path for removing finished bales.

Confirm voltage, frequency, phase and control requirements with the plant electrician. Also share whether the equipment will be installed indoors, under a canopy or in an exposed yard. The supplier should state the assumptions used for electrical equipment, cooling and enclosure protection.

Compare complete production assumptions

Do not compare baler capacity from one headline figure. Ask how the estimate defines a cycle, which material was used, the assumed bale weight, the loading method and the allowance for normal interruptions. If the required output is critical, request a material test or an estimate based on clearly documented equivalent material.

Use the same material brief for every supplier. This makes differences in chamber layout, feed handling, discharge, electrical scope and support easier to see.

Plan shipping, unloading and inland delivery

Before confirming the order, ask for the packed dimensions, weights, lifting points and container-loading plan. Check the route from the destination port to the plant, including roads, gates, unloading equipment and any lifting restrictions. The delivery scope should distinguish the ocean shipment, local transport, unloading and final placement.

Define installation and support responsibilities

Put the responsibilities in the quotation: foundation preparation, hydraulic oil, cables, lifting equipment, local labor, commissioning support, operator training and recommended spare parts. Ask which information the supplier needs before shipment and which checks will be completed before operation.

For support after installation, identify the contacts, working language, time-zone coverage and process for requesting technical help. A specific service scope is more useful than a broad after-sales statement.

Use this RFQ checklist

  • Destination country, city, port and site address
  • Material photos, normal feed and maximum pieces
  • Target bale dimensions, handling route and shift output
  • Voltage, frequency, phase and operating environment
  • Site layout, loader type, crane availability and access route
  • Preferred shipping scope and expected project schedule
  • Required documents, training language and support scope

Review the scrap metal baler range, use the scrap baler throughput guide and read the regional machinery planning guide. Send Nanyuan the project brief for a model-specific discussion.
