How to Choose a Stainless Steel Baler

A stainless steel baler should match the scrap form, feed dimensions, grade-separation plan and downstream bale requirement. Press force is useful, but it does not by itself predict bale weight, density or production rate.

This guide explains how to compare horizontal HBM models and vertical Y82 models without assuming that one layout fits every stainless steel recycling operation.

Start with the stainless steel scrap

Record the stainless grade, typical form and largest pieces. Sheet skeletons, stampings, clippings, wire, profiles and mixed fabrication scrap can behave differently in a chamber. Note rebound, contamination, moisture and any attached non-metal material.

If grades must remain separate, explain how material is stored, loaded and discharged. Provide photos with a scale and the approximate daily share of each scrap type.

Compare horizontal and vertical layouts

The correct layout depends on feed length, loading equipment, floor space and bale handling. A horizontal baler may fit long or regularly loaded production scrap, while a vertical arrangement can suit another feed and site pattern. The actual chamber opening and compression sequence must be checked against the longest and most difficult pieces.

Map the whole process: sorting, loading, compression, bale discharge, lifting and storage. A machine with a higher nominal force will not remove a bottleneck in feeding or bale handling.

Nanyuan stainless steel baler model overview

The following figures come from Nanyuan’s archived product information and should be reconfirmed for the current build. Bale weight, density, throughput, motor arrangement and final dimensions depend on the selected configuration and test material.

Model Archived main cylinder force Archived press box Layout note
HBM-250 250 ton 4,000 × 1,500 × 800 mm Confirm feed opening, bale format and installed power.
HBM-315 315 ton 4,000 × 1,500 × 800 mm Compare compression sequence and material assumptions with HBM-250.
HBM-400 400 ton 4,000 × 1,500 × 800 mm Check whether the higher rating solves the actual material and output requirement.
Y82/T-200 200 ton 1,600 × 1,100 × 1,500 mm Compare the vertical feed opening with the longest offcuts.
Y82/T-250 250 ton 2,400 × 1,100 × 1,800 mm Confirm discharge and lifting method for the required bale.

Define the bale requirement

Ask the receiving mill or trader for preferred bale dimensions, approximate weight range, density expectations and contamination limits. Confirm how the bale will be lifted, stored, loaded for transport and charged into the next process.

A chamber dimension does not guarantee a fixed bale result. Material grade, thickness, form, springback, loading and operating settings all affect the finished bale. Ask the supplier to state the test material and assumptions behind any output claim.

Set a production target with operating conditions

Specify tonnes per hour or per shift, hours per day and the expected loading rhythm. Include time for sorting, grade changes, bale removal and routine cleaning. If production varies, provide both average and peak requirements.

Compare suppliers using the same material description and duty cycle. This prevents one proposal from assuming easy light scrap while another is sized for the most difficult feed.

Plan feeding, discharge and maintenance access

  • Loader, crane, conveyor or manual feeding method
  • Largest feed batch and approach direction
  • Bale discharge position and lifting equipment
  • Clearance for cylinders, hoses, filters and electrical cabinet
  • Route for replacing wear parts and handling heavy components
  • Housekeeping and safe access around the operating area

Confirm power and installation conditions

Provide the destination country, voltage, frequency, phase, ambient temperature, available footprint, foundation condition and indoor or outdoor location. Discuss electrical component preferences, cooling needs, lifting access and local requirements before the final specification is issued.

Stainless steel baler RFQ checklist

  • Stainless grades and whether they must stay separate
  • Scrap forms, photos and maximum dimensions
  • Loose bulk density, if known
  • Tonnes per hour or shift and hours per day
  • Target bale dimensions, weight range and downstream use
  • Feeding and bale handling equipment
  • Site layout, foundation and power standard
  • Controls, factory test, spares, commissioning and delivery scope

Request a model comparison
