Press force and hydraulic pressure are different quantities. A force entry in a baler catalog cannot be copied into a pressure field or used to infer a machine setting. For an HBM-315 inquiry, keep the archived cylinder-force information separate from the current hydraulic specifications that the manufacturer must confirm.
Read the archived column as it is labeled
The HBM-315 stainless steel baler page includes a historical table with 315 in the main-cylinder-force column, whose unit label is ton. The page explicitly identifies the table as earlier series data and asks buyers to confirm the current configuration. It does not present that entry as a hydraulic-pressure specification.
Preserve the model reference, column heading, number and unit label when recording the source. Ask Nanyuan to confirm the exact force-unit convention and provide the current value in a clearly defined unit. Do not silently interpret the word ton as a particular force convention, or use the model number itself as independent evidence of a machine’s specification.
Understand the difference in the units
The NIST Guide to the SI identifies the newton, N, as the SI unit of force and the pascal, Pa, as the SI unit of pressure. A pascal is a newton per square metre. The area in that pressure definition is why a force number alone cannot specify a pressure.
Consider a purely abstract, uniformly distributed load. One newton over one square metre corresponds to one pascal. The same one newton over two square metres corresponds to half a pascal. These are illustrations of quantities and units, unrelated to any baler, cylinder or operating condition. They are not values to use on equipment.
Do not substitute the chamber dimensions for cylinder information
The HBM archive also contains separate dimensional fields for the machine’s material spaces and output. Those fields describe different parts of the equipment. A press-box dimension or bale face does not identify the effective area inside a hydraulic cylinder, so it cannot fill the missing technical information in a hydraulic-pressure calculation.
Even a clearly labeled current force value must be interpreted in the manufacturer’s stated context. Ask which component and operating condition the figure describes. The supplier’s configuration-specific documents and qualified technical reviewers must establish the hydraulic requirements. Purchasing should not reverse-engineer pressure, valve settings or usable machine limits from a public catalog.
Give every quotation field a precise meaning
In the comparison sheet, separate the following entries rather than placing everything under a heading such as hydraulic power:
- Force: the named component or action, stated value, defined unit and applicable configuration.
- Hydraulic pressure: the manufacturer’s description of the relevant pressure quantity, its unit and the document that establishes it.
- Electrical power: the separately documented electrical quantity and the equipment it covers.
- Material outcome: the required bale and any supporting trial evidence for the actual feed.
Leave an unavailable field unconfirmed. A larger number in a force column does not answer a missing question about output, electrical supply or hydraulic requirements. Likewise, similar numbers in two quotations are not directly comparable until their units, definitions and configuration boundaries match.
Resolve an ambiguous summary before it circulates
Imagine a hypothetical purchasing summary that abbreviates the archived entry to “pressure: 315 ton.” The first correction is to restore the source heading and historical status. Then ask for the current supplier-defined force information and the separate hydraulic specification needed by the technical reviewer. Converting the number into another unit would not repair the incorrect quantity label.
Keep the correction in the shared comparison, not only in an email to one reviewer. Otherwise, the mislabeled value can reappear in a site questionnaire or a later quotation request. If the supplier issues a revised data sheet, identify which earlier entries it supersedes and retain unresolved questions alongside the revision.
Request specifications for the actual stainless scrap
Provide stainless grade, sheet or offcut dimensions, contamination information and the desired bale format through Nanyuan’s inquiry page. Ask for the current HBM-315 drawing, defined force units and applicable hydraulic documentation. These inputs support a configuration review; neither an archived force figure nor the abstract unit example establishes performance for your material.
