Dished Steel Head Quotations: Define the Stage of Supply

A photograph of a formed steel head with cut openings does not establish the condition in which a completed component will be supplied. For a fabrication inquiry, identify whether the requested item is the formed part, a machined component, or a component with agreed welded attachments and finish. Those scopes need a drawing-based response, not an assumption from appearance.

The specific condition shown in the Nanyuan listing

The custom fabricated dished steel head listing describes its photographed part as a fabrication-stage component before final machining, welding, surface preparation or coating. It also lists optional machining, welding preparation and attachment fabrication. These statements identify topics for quotation; they do not mean every operation is included in every order.

Keep this stage-of-supply distinction beside the reference image when asking for a price. If the image is sent without its explanatory text, a purchasing team and a supplier may be discussing different deliverables while looking at the same photograph. The relevant question is what the quotation includes at handover, not whether the pictured part looks sufficiently complete.

Describe the requested deliverable before comparing offers

Use a short scope statement tied to the drawing revision. Identify the formed component and then list which subsequent operations must be included in the supplier’s proposal. Leave undecided operations explicitly open for discussion. Do not label an offer complete merely because its title says “steel head.”

For example, a proposal for the formed shell and cut openings is not the same scope as one that also includes specified machining and welded attachments. This is a comparison of deliverables, not a statement that either route is suitable for the buyer’s equipment. Suitability and the sequence of manufacturing operations remain matters for the project’s qualified technical review.

Keep the visible openings separate from approved opening details

The listing asks for opening diameters and locations, tolerances and edge preparation in the quotation information. The presence of several visible openings does not establish those values. A photograph cannot replace the drawing that identifies their positions and requirements.

Include the drawing references used to describe each opening and any attachment it must receive. Where a sketch is preliminary, mark it as preliminary. Ask the supplier to identify unresolved dimensions rather than filling gaps from the reference photograph. Do not infer final fit, machining allowance or a welding detail from the apparent shape of a cut edge.

Separate geometry, material and finishing evidence

The product page identifies outside diameter, formed depth, plate thickness and material grade as information required for review. These are distinct fields. A visually similar dome does not confirm the requested material or dimensions, and a cleaned or coated surface would not establish that the underlying geometry had been accepted.

Ask the proposal to distinguish the agreed material documentation, dimensional review and finishing scope. Record who supplies the relevant drawings and what inspection requirements apply. This prevents a finish description from being mistaken for confirmation of the component’s design or material identity.

State whether pressure retention is part of the application

The current listing specifically says that, if the component forms part of a pressure-retaining assembly, the applicable design code, material documentation, welding procedure and inspection plan must be agreed before production. That conditional statement is not evidence that the photographed component is certified for pressure service.

Describe the intended assembly and its requirements accurately in the inquiry. Do not treat a curved shape, plate thickness or the term “head” as a pressure rating. The applicable requirements need to be established for the actual project by the responsible technical parties. No rating or code compliance can be derived from the image provided on the catalogue page.

Make the handover boundary clear

A useful quotation review ends with a clear description of the component’s delivery condition and the documents that define it. Record included operations, excluded operations, the applicable drawing revision and outstanding technical questions. Any change to the requested attachments or finishing stage should remain visible in the revised scope.

Request a custom steel-component fabrication review with the drawing or dimensional sketch, material requirements, desired supply stage, quantity, destination and inspection requirements. Nanyuan can review the requested scope; the reference photograph alone should not be used as a final acceptance specification.
