Q43 Cold Shearing: Specify the Feed Condition Separately

“Cold shearing” describes an application scope; it is not a numerical feed-temperature approval. When discussing a Q43 shear, establish the condition of the incoming material separately from the site environment and the machine’s own operating requirements.

Nanyuan’s earlier Q43 series page describes cold shearing of metal profiles and structural parts. It gives no numerical material-temperature range in that description. The current Q43-160 listing asks for material and section information and a current data sheet. Use those references to frame a specific application question, not to invent a temperature limit.

Distinguish three different temperature-related questions

  • Incoming material: the condition of the stock proposed for processing, including relevant upstream process history.
  • Site environment: conditions around the planned installation.
  • Machine conditions: limits and requirements in the current manufacturer documentation, including applicable hydraulic or equipment conditions.

These fields are related in a project but are not interchangeable. A response about site ambient conditions does not confirm the incoming stock condition. A cooling-system description likewise does not establish permission to process material with an unresolved thermal history.

Describe the source of the material, not an assumed definition of cold

Identify where the proposed feed comes from and the upstream process it has undergone. Use existing authorized production records and information from the responsible site team. Separate what is documented from what is estimated or unknown. Do not label a stream “cold” merely because the inquiry form requires a short description.

If two streams have different origins or known conditions, keep separate material identifiers even when their section dimensions appear similar. The technical response should make clear which stream it covers. Confirmation for one documented material line should not be copied to another line with a different or unknown condition.

This is an information-gathering step, not a handling or testing procedure. Do not heat, cool, touch, measure or trial uncertain stock on the basis of this article. Qualified personnel must determine the required evidence and safe methods under the applicable site and manufacturer requirements.

Ask the supplier to define the current application scope

Refer to the historical cold-shearing description and ask how the supplier defines the permitted incoming material condition for the exact current proposal. Request the relevant document reference and any conditions or exclusions. Where the buyer’s information is incomplete, ask what further evidence is required before suitability can be assessed.

A useful response connects the machine configuration, material identifier and reviewed condition. A general statement that the Q43 family is suitable for scrap processing does not resolve a particular stream’s missing condition information. Neither does a headline force rating or an example involving different material.

Keep ambient review as a separate record

The site-environment and cooling brief addresses the installation location, environmental evidence and intended duty. Those questions still matter, but their answers should remain separate from feed-condition acceptance.

For example, an inquiry could contain a documented site-environment range while the origin or condition of one incoming stream remains unknown. Record the first item as supplied and the second as unresolved. Do not treat the completed ambient field as evidence that the material is within the proposed shear’s scope.

Use a concise material-condition record

  • Material-stream identifier, grade and section reference.
  • Upstream source or process, with available evidence.
  • Known incoming condition and the basis for that statement.
  • Uncertainty requiring qualified review.
  • Current proposed machine and document revision.
  • Supplier’s application response, conditions and open items.

Keep this record alongside the dimensional material brief. It supplements, rather than replaces, the questions about section geometry, feed arrangement and required cut result. No single completed field establishes the whole application’s suitability.

Request a bounded answer for the actual feed

Send Nanyuan the Q43 reference and your documented material-condition brief. Ask which incoming conditions the current proposal covers and what evidence remains necessary. Keep any unresolved condition open; the historical phrase “cold shearing” is not a current operating authorization or a universal temperature threshold.
